Hello, all! Still haven't found me lost goats, although I DO think I heard at least two of them up a draw the other day...will go back again in a day or two. Kiss (my hound) dug a den in the field & whelped her pups - I haven't pushed her to let me in to count/check on them...can see at least 3, and she's a really good mama = comes out for a quick bite, some water, do her 'duty' (or is that "dooty"?) and back inside the den. Pulled at least 50 lbs. of radishes - the Grangeville farmers' market isn't opening until mid-August, so I gave a bunch away, fed a lot to the chickens and rabbits - will compost the rest if no one comes down and picks up the freebies. Spinach, spicy salad mix & lettuce have only a few days left on them. Melons, corn, squash are all doing fine - we had a hail storm with a 'micro-burst' (a severe wind burst of about 60 mph) that did some cosmetic damage to the tomatoes & the leaves on many plants. Several neighbors had damage to their homes, although one neighbor had 3 trees fall on her trailer...but so many small branches & a twist of wind, only very minor damage done! Heat in the 90s, supposed to cool down by this weekend.
Hope you all are staying cool!
I'm trying to get ahead enough to get a day to go up near Culdesac to look at some land I'm thinking of trying to buy...
Peace.

  1. Hi Robert,
I raised goats back in the mid 70's along with cows, chickens, geese and rabbits. Goats won the contest for being the most pain to maintain! We loved the milk and cream because my kids couldn't drink straight cows milk. Now at my retirement age I am down to just rabbits and yes, I do miss the goat milk and cream! Wish you the best to bring home your goats. They need you too!
